Financial And Credits

Today we learnt about credit and financial rules from Miss Rachel and how to earn credits from the government. If you don’t pay your frequent payments due on the day you were supposed to pay it you would lose your credit from the government. When you make a mistake you must be honest with the one you a paying so they could understand and won’t file overdue papers.

We were learning about what we should really spend our money on the things we really need and who we can trust when we let people borrow your possessions.

Technology Reflection Week 2 Term 4

Last week at Technology we were designing t-shirt designs for our t-shirts with Mr Pineda our graphics teacher. I designed a bulletproof design with the a skull in the centre of it. The word Bullet was on top of the design which was above the skull and the word Proof was underneath the skull, the skull looked a bit like the punisher skull and words are bold. I didn’t have time to colour it in but it was just a draft, we finished technology at 10:40am then we came back school.

Kiwi Can Reflection Week 3 Term 4

Today we had another Kiwi Can session with Miss Tuia and Mr Numia, started it off with our energizer. Our energizer was following instructions. One person goes and look at our instructions then comes back and tells us what we had to do

After our energizer we played our activity and our activity was “Human Knot” there would be two groups and both groups form a circle and everybody in the circle has to grab a hand across them with their right hand then after their right they grab another person’s hand with your left hand then try untangle yourself without letting go. Our group took three minutes to untangle ourselves but the other group took a while to untangle themselves we redid ours over and over again until the other group finished.

We had GKQ, General, Knowledge, Questions, after our activity. Four people started then the next four until it ends. We ended it with our goodbye.

Kiwi Can Reflection Week 2 Term 4

Today on Friday 23rd of October, we had another session with Kiwi Can, Room 10 and Room 9 had Kiwi Can after our Duffy assembly. Our Kiwi Can tutors are Miss Tuia and Mr Numia, we now have a new topic and it’s respect, respecting ourselves is our topic.

We were talking about our personal strengths and how everybody is unique. We started off with a warm up game, Miss Tuia and Mr Numia divided us into two groups. In the groups one person had to go in the middle and say what they like or what they are good at and the others who formed a circle likes or do what the person in the middle does they have to run around the circle and back to their spot and the last back to their spot has to go in the middle and it will be their turn.

After our warm up game we had another game and in this game their were a caller and some taggers and players. The caller has to call out a fruit and the players have to jump away from the taggers.

At the end of our session we received class points. Both classes received equal points.

If you are physically hurting your child which isn't the right thing to do that is called child abuse cause parents shouldn't lay their hands on their own child and hurting them is the wrong thing to do. I think child abuse is mean to the children and parents should stop that because it is not a nice thing to hit a child or put them down and making them feel bad about themselves.Children should be cared for by their parents or caregiver. They shouldn't hit them and call it discipline they should just send them to their room.So I think child abuse is bad.

Early Childhood Centre

It was cold once room 10 walked out of the classroom and went to the library. Once we got to the library we had to choose one simple book, a less complicated where the younger ones from the early childhood centre could understand most of it. Once we got our book we made our way down to the Early Childhood Centre. When we got to the centre we sat down then stood up to sing a song, the song we sang was "if your happy and you know it". After we finished our song we had to pick a younger child to read to him and play with him. Me and Lennyx chose Lucas. We read to him and played around with him, after that we had to leave because our time was over. We went to put our shoes on and was getting ready to go back class.

Year 8 TC Reflection

On Tuesday 28th of April the year 8s from Pt England, Tamaki Primary, Glen Innes Primary, Ruapotaka, Panmure Bridge , St Pius and Glenbrae met in the auditorium. We went to Tamaki College to have a tour around the school. They gave us name tags, a house code and a USB. My group was called R La, R La stood for Rata.

Our first class was science with Mrs Smallwood. Mrs Smallwood taught us how to make ice cream with a Ziploc bag. You needed 2 ziploc bags 1 large one and one small one, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 and a half cups of milk or cream, 1 quarter teaspoon of vanilla extract, 6 tablespoons of rock salt and enough ice to fill the large ziploc bag half way. We started the process with the small bag first by pouring milk in first then putting in the 1 tablespoon of sugar and then adding 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence. After we finished with the small ziploc bag we started with the large ziploc bag by filling the bag with ice until it reached the halfway point then we added 6 tablespoons of rock salt. We put the small bag into  the large bag and started shaking for 5 minutes until it was ready.

After science class we went to our remaining classes we had physical education with Doris. We played three games we had hand soccer, basketball and touch. we kept playing but the other team won then it was time for interval so we went back to the auditorium and ate.

We had English and Maths after interval then we had lunch then we had social studies then back to the auditorium then back to school to back to home.

MADD Diary

Today was our second to last week of our MADD messenger. Petia drew five shapes and the five shapes he drew were based on our personality. All of us had to choose a shape that was based on our own personality. Square stood for hard working , Rectangle stood for experiencing new stuff, Squiggle stood for creativity, circle stood for caring for others and triangle stood for leadership. My group rectangle, experiencing new stuff, was a low populated group. Rectangle could be every other shape for one day.

After that he talked about five characters from the 80s Teenage mutant ninja turtles. Then he drew batman a person who is every shape.

Term 1 Inquiry Project

Details :

Name: Velociraptor or Raptor or Swift Thief
Abilities: Sickle claw or killer claws
Looks: Has a skin colour that blends in the bush
Height: 2m 6.6ft in length
Weight: 15 kgs and 33lb
Preys:
Diet: Carnivore feeds on meat
Discovered: 1924
Lived: 65 - 75 million years ago`

Velociraptor F acts:

A Velociraptor existed 73 million years ago and it is the same size as a turkey. The Velociraptor uses its claws from its legs to kill there preys and it is also first ever reptile to be found dead in the Mongolia desert-1992. Velociraptor eats fly birds that are big and large, also keep claws closed and sharp on them so they would not escape.

Discoveries:

The fossils, unearthed from a red sandstone mound in Inner Mongolia and China in 2008 consist of a collection of heavily eroded Protoceratops Bones with two small, curved, serrated teeth that belonged either to Velociraptor or a close relative. Back when they lived roughly 65 million to 70 million years ago, the area was probably a scrubby desert with lots of sand and rocks and not too much vegetation, though there were bodies of water, with life quite lush closer to the rivers.

When did it live:

Velociraptor roamed the Earth about 85.8 million to 70.6 million years ago during the end of the Cretaceous Period. Velociraptor is one of the most bird-like dinosaurs ever discovered. It was small and fast, and the sickle-shaped claw on the second toe of each foot made it a formidable predator. A special bone in its wrist allowed it to swivel its wrist sideways in a flapping motion and to fold its arm against its body like a bird. This motion allowed it to snap its arms forward to grab fleeing prey and is an important part of the flight stroke in modern birds.

Anzac Remembrance Ceremony

This morning Glenbrae School held a small Anzac remembrance ceremony in remembrance of the Anzac soldiers who went to war and died for our country. The whole Glenbrae School gathered up in the front of school near the gates to celebrate the remembrance of the Anzac soldiers. We started it off with a song He Honore, then our guest Left Lieutenant Geoffrey said a speech about Anzac and was explaining what it meant and where it originated. After his speech the whole school read a poem by Laurence Binyon a poem he wrote for the fallen on September 1914 it read “They shall grow not old, as we are left grow old : Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them in the morning”. Then we put crosses on the ground in remembrance of the Anzac soldiers, in orders of youngest classes to the older classes. After the ceremony room 10, 9 and 8 went to the hall to have questions and answers with Left Lieutenant Geoffrey.

The World war 1 had started because of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand an Archduke Austrian Prince. The Turkish tried to convince Australia and New Zealand to surrender they said "Surrender this isn't your fight, Great Britain is getting you to do their dirty work". The war had happened in many places such as Europe, Africa Asia and the Middle east.

Holiday Recount

My holidays didn’t really start off well. On good Friday we had church in the morning then a meeting after the church had finished.

Then when I got home i got dressed and then me and my uncle had caught the bus to Britomart. We stayed at Britomart until 10:51pm then we walked to Britomart bus stop and waited for the rail bus to arrive. On the bus timetable it said the last bus arrives at 12:35am. We had waited and waited until it was past 1:00am but no bus came so we had gone to Mcdonalds and gotten a family box and had to walk back to Glen Innes. We got back home approximately 3:31am and it had taken us approximately 2 hours and 5 minutes to walk back.

The next day was my brothers birthday he had turned 17 years old. My mum had called me to go with her and my brother to Sylvia park. She had bought him a XL beats by dr dre pill for his birthday present .

Easter Sunday had come and it was time to celebrate the sacrifice of Jesus. Easter Sunday was great day for celebrating Jesus’s sacrifice. Then things started off well to the holidays. My holidays were very busy and exhausting.
